10 Places to Visit in Broward County that are not Beaches

There are many places to visit in Broward County. Broward County is a county located in southeastern Florida.

It is the second most populous county in the state of Florida and the 17th most populous county in the United States.

It is home to over 1.94 million inhabitants according to the 2020 census.

Broward County has two distinct regions:

The densely-populated east coast metropolitan area, which abuts the Atlantic Ocean and immediately inland.

And the essentially uninhabitable western portion making up part of the Everglades.

With an average year-round temperature of 75.5 °F (24.2 °C) and 3,000 hours of sunshine per year you will want to explore the region.

Even in the winter months temperatures never dip below 45 °F (7.7°C).

 

1 – Beach Place

A two-story hexagon-shaped place that is in the middle of two staircases.

An exclusive all-in-one entertainment destination on Fort Lauderdale beach.

It offers a unique blend of shopping, dining, live musical performances, and events all along the beachfront.

It is located two blocks north of Las Olas Blvd.

You can get to Beach Place via water by either Water Taxi or River Taxi.

Sun-Thurs 11 am-10 pm, Fri-Sat 11 am-midnight.

 

2 – Broward Center for the Performing Arts

An apparent lake with a boat and in front of it a very large and somewhat illuminated place with palm trees in its path.

The Center presents more than 700 performances each year to more than 700,000 patrons.

It is among the top ten most-visited theaters in the world.

It is overlooking the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale,

3 – Hollywood Broadwalk

An apparent beach at the bottom of a small wall where there is a small and very peculiar window next to palm trees.

The one-of-a-kind Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, is a promenade that stretches nearly 2.5 miles along the Atlantic Ocean.

It was named one of America’s Best Beach Boardwalks by Travel + Leisure magazine.

This brick-paved thoroughfare hosts pedestrians, joggers, bicyclists, rollerbladers, and millions of others every year.

The promenade also features the Hollywood Beach Theatre, a children’s water playground at Charnow Park, and many other attractions.

Hollywood Beach also offers dozens of luxury hotels and condominiums.

For example, the Diplomat Resort & Spa Hollywood, Trump Hollywood, and Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort.

 

4 – Florida Grand Opera

Florida Grand Opera stands as the oldest performing arts organization in Florida.

It was formed in June 1994 by the merger of Greater Miami Opera, founded in 1941, and The Opera Guild Inc, founded in 1945.

The Greater Miami Opera was founded by Dr. Arturo di Filippi, a voice teacher at the University of Miami.

The first production was a single performance of Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci performed in English.

 

5 – Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop

A shopping place with several floors and on the bottom floor there are racing carts on counters. One of the spectacular places to visit in Broward County.

The Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop is a 14-screen drive-in theater in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

It doubles as the largest drive-in and largest daily flea market in the world.

Local broadcast advertising states it to be Florida’s second-biggest tourist attraction.

Also, as the largest tourist attraction in the South Florida metropolitan area.

 

6 – Sawgrass Mills is one of the favorite places to visit in Broward County.

A large entrance with many palm trees and a very large parking lot in front.

It is the eleventh largest mall in the United States, and the largest single story outlet mall in the U.S.

The largest shopping mall in Broward County, the second-largest mall in Florida.

It is also the third-largest shopping mall in the southeastern United States.

Its arena is the home venue for the Florida Panthers of the x National Hockey League.

7 – The BB&T Center in Sunrise

A place shown from the air with a circular shape and the street in front of it decorated with palm trees and neat parking lots.

When BB&T purchased BankAtlantic in July 2012, the arena was rebranded as the BB&T Center.

The arena is currently the largest in Florida.

It is the second-largest in the Southeastern United States, behind Greensboro Coliseum.

 

8 – The Festival Flea Market Mall in Pompano Beach, an interesting place to visit in Broward County.

Festival Flea Market Mall is an indoor flea market mall located in Pompano Beach, Florida.

The established flea market used to be a Pompano outlet mall prior to its transformation into a flea market.

It is now a private company, established in 1991 and incorporated in Florida.

Current estimates show this company employs a staff of approximately 50 to 99 employees.

 

9 – Riverwalk in Fort Lauderdale

This place is a river walk along New River in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Its length is over a mile and goes from the Sailboat Bend neighborhood to near the Stranahan House.

It’s home to several of the city’s main attractions.

For example,  the Museum of Discovery and Science, the Broward Center for Performing Arts and Old Fort Lauderdale.

 

10 – Flamingo Gardens is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Broward County.

One of the great Places to visit in Broward County is Flamingo Gardens.

It is a 60-acre, Tropical Botanic Garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, aviary and zoo.

However, it is open to the public for a fee.
