Broward County was created in 1915. It is named after Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, Governor of Florida from 1905 to 1909.

1 – Sea Ranch Lakes – Median home price / sq ft: $616

Sea Ranch Lakes is a village in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 540 at the 2020 census. It is located on North Ocean Drive (Highway A1A) and is surrounded by Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

The majority of the village is a gated community, with the remainder being a public shopping plaza and a private beach club for village residents, with a pool and access to Sea Ranch Lakes Beach.

 

2 – Southwest Ranches – Median home price / sq ft: $541

Southwest Ranches is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is a suburban community part of the Miami metropolitan area and is located on the eastern edge of the Everglades, 15 miles (24 km) southwest of Fort Lauderdale and about 22 miles (35 km) northwest of Miami.

The town has laws that keep homes from being built on lots less than an acre. To conserve the town’s rural lifestyle, the laws also generally prevent the construction of streetlights and sidewalks. One of the most expensive cities in Broward County to own a home.

 

3 – Lauderdale by the Sea – Median home price / sq ft: $512 | One of the smallest, most expensive cities in Broward

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States, situated 33 miles north of Miami. As of the 2010 census, the population was 6,056.

The entire town is located on a long, narrow barrier island separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway (spanned by one drawbridge at Commercial Boulevard), stretching approximately one-half a dozen blocks to the Atlantic Ocean.

 

4 – Hillsboro Beach – Median home price / sq ft: $480

Hillsboro Beach, officially the Town of Hillsboro Beach, is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. Its population was 1,875 at the 2010 census.

The town was named for the Earl of Hillsborough, who received large grants of land from the King of England while Florida was an English possession.

 

5 – Wilton Manors – Median home price / sq ft: $441

Wilton Manors is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 11,426.

Formerly a sleepy street lined with small retail shops, Wilton Drive is now the city’s arts and entertainment district, home to numerous restaurants, bars, shops, condos and rental developments that have blossomed over the last decade.

 

6 – Pembroke Park – Median home price / sq ft: $433 | Canadians love one of the most expensive cities in Broward

Pembroke Park is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The town took its name from its location along Pembroke Road. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,260.

As of 2000, Pembroke Park had the sixth-highest percentage of Canadian residents in the US (many of whom are French Canadians from Quebec,) with 3.1% of the populace.

 

7 – Lighthouse Point – Median home price / sq ft: $426

Lighthouse Point is a suburb of Fort Lauderdale located in Broward County, Florida, United States. The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse, which is located in nearby Hillsboro Beach, gives name to this suburb. As of the 2010 census, the population of Lighthouse Point was 10,344.

Fort Lauderdale is a coastal city located in the U.S. state of Florida, 25 miles (40 km) north of Miami along the Atlantic Ocean. It is the county seat and largest city in Broward County with a population of 182,760 as of the 2020 Census, making it the tenth-largest city in Florida.

Known as the “Venice of America” Fort Lauderdale has 165-miles of inland waterways across the city. With over 50,000 registered yachts and 100 marinas, Fort Lauderdale is also known as the yachting capital of the world.

 

9 – Cooper City – Median home price / sq ft: $353 | One of the most expensive cities in Broward to own a home

Cooper City is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States.  Morris Cooper founded the community in 1959. The city’s population was 34,401 at the 2020 census.

Lastly, Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City is the location of a cricket grounds, and in 2004 played host to first-class cricket when the United States cricket team played Canada in the ICC Intercontinental Cup.

 

10 – Weston – Median home price / sq ft: $342

Weston is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. The population was 68,107 at the 2020 census. Still relatively expensive, even at the last position in our list of the Most Expensive Cities in Broward
